Von Braun Center Arena Graduations and Construction May 20, 2010 HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Von Braun Center is the primary location for high school and some college graduations throughout Madison County. In an effort to keep the public informed, VBC management is providing the following information regarding graduation attendance. Please consult individual schools/school systems for specifics related to their particular graduation. Family and friends attending graduations held inside the Arena may either enter through East Hall 1 and proceed to the North landing, or may enter through either of the South landings of the Arena. The southeast landing of the Arena offers handicap access and is equipped with a lift for the customers with limited mobility. Additional directional signage will be posted to help patrons enter and exit the facility with ease. Guest services personnel will also be positioned to physically direct people throughout the building and around the exterior of the construction zones. A diagram has been attached to further illustrate the Arena entrance and exit locations. Graduations not held in the Arena should not be directly impacted by any construction taking place at the Von Braun Center. Download PDF Von Braun Center Groundbreaking Ceremony February 2, 2010 HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Among all of the exciting events that are held at the Von Braun Center, the most anticipated of these will be the groundbreaking ceremony being held on Friday, February 5th at 2:00 p.m. This ceremony will celebrate the commencement of the renovation of the Propst Arena and the Mark C. Smith Concert Hall. The Arena, built in 1975, will be refurbished and given a more modern look thanks to the $5 million donation of Bill Propst, Sr. and his family. The Propst Arena will have VIP suites, additional restrooms and a beautiful glass frontage that overlooks Big Spring Park. A $3 million contribution by the Linda and Mark C. Smith Family Foundation was the catalyst for the renovation of the Concert Hall. The Mark C. Smith Concert Hall will be updated with a new grand staircase, a center aisle in the seating area and complete a face lift on the façade of the building. In attendance will be Huntsville City Officials, Von Braun Center Board Members and Von Braun Center Management. This event is open to the public and will be held directly in front of the entrance to the Concert Hall.
