The Von Braun Center (VBC) and 102.1 WDRM are bringing Girls with Guitars to the VBC Mars Music Hall on Tuesday, October 11 with featured artists Ingrid Andress, Priscilla Block, Tiera Kennedy, and Ashley Cooke.  This year, presented by Rock N Roll Sushi!

Girls with Guitars is a presented by 102.1 WDRM and showcases female country artists in an intimate setting where performers can engage with the audience, provide insight into the history and meaning behind some of their songs, and play acoustic versions of fan favorites.  This event is held annually in October with a portion of the proceeds benefitting HudsonAlpha's Information is Power Program.

Raised between the coasts of California and Florida, Ashley Cooke is an up-and-coming country artist who is bringing authentic and honest storytelling to her music. The singer/songwriter developed her love of country music as Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line quickly became the soundtrack of high school. Cooke followed her passion for music to Belmont University where she won the Country Showcase, placing her in an elite class of winners that includes Brad Paisley, Chris Young, Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line and more.  In Aug. 2021, Cooke released her debut project Already Drank That Beer, Side A, featuring 8 tracks written by Cooke and many of Nashville’s hottest songwriters. The project includes fan-favorite “Never Til Now” as well as standout tracks “Good Goodbye” ft. Jimmie Allen and “Already Drank That Beer.” Produced by award-winner Jimmy Robbins, the debut project garnered critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, People, Taste of Country, Sounds Like Nashville, Country Now and more.  In 2021, Cooke hit the road on tour with fellow rising acts BRELAND and Spencer Crandall. Gearing up to release more new music in 2022, Cooke looks forward to joining Cole Swindell’s Down To The Bar tour kicking off in Feb. 2022.

3x GRAMMY nominated singer-songwriter Ingrid Andress has revealed details about her sophomore album, Good Person, where she returns to the reflection and confession at the core of her GRAMMY-nominated debut album, Lady LikeGood Person, out August 26th, delves even deeper and will feature the recently released tracks “Pain,” “Seeing Someone Else” and the album’s title track, hailed by Rolling Stone as “a gripping examination of the way we perceive others and compare ourselves without ever knowing the full story.”  Good Person follows Andress’ record-breaking debut, Lady Like, named “one of the year’s strongest albums” by Associated Press and one of Billboard’s "Top 10 Best Country Albums of 2020." The celebrated LP earned Andress 3 GRAMMY nominations including "Best New Artist" and spawned the multi-platinum No. 1 radio single “More Hearts Than Mine.” Andress is also a 4x ACM Award, 3x CMA Award and 2x CMT Music Award nominee and has nearly a billion global streams to her name. Andress is currently sitting in the Top 25 at country radio with her gold certified single “Wishful Drinking” featuring Sam Hunt, which has garnered over 130 million global streams to date and is on the road with Keith Urban for the 52-date North American leg of his world tour.

“This is me,” says Priscilla Block. “Love it or leave it.”  It’s that kind of attitude towards life, and her fearless music-making, that has made the rising country star one of the genre’s most exciting new artists and one of its most authentic and relatable voices. Priscilla’s debut album, Welcome to the Block Party, finds an artist who is redefining ‘three chords and the truth’ for an entirely new generation.  Though she came to prominence in 2020, Priscilla’s rise has been years in the making, full of hard work, long hours, and country grit. She had been writing songs nonstop before March 2020, but she’d never quite thought about sharing them explicitly on social media until the pandemic hit. Having moved out of her apartment into a house shared by random Craigslist roommates, she needed something to fill the dreary days.  TikTok, while thoroughly driving pop culture in myriad ways, had not yet made inroads with a country fanbase: until Priscilla came along. When she started posting songs like “Thick Thighs” and “PMS” in the middle of lockdown, to continue to share her music with her fans, she would never have imagined that she would soon top the iTunes Country and All-Genre song charts.  Still, even with the success of “Thick Thighs” and “PMS,” Priscilla was still broke and broken hearted – so in the summer of 2020 she decided to go to a nearby bar where she, to add insult to injury, ran into an ex-boyfriend. A few days later, during a FaceTime writing session with friends, they wrote “Just About Over You,” and “it was the song that completely changed my life,” Priscilla says. Not only was it entirely funded on social media by fans after becoming a viral moment online, it went to the top of the charts.  Soon after, Priscilla signed her record deal and was on her way to making a self-titled EP, followed by her first full-length album: Welcome to the Block Party, named for how she refers to her signature sound of country pop and southern rock that is as rowdy as it can be tender and confessional.  Doing things her own way has paid off. Pegged as a 2021 Artist to Watch by Amazon Music, PANDORA, Spotify, CMT, The Boot, MusicRow, HITS, Sounds Like Nashville, Country Now, Music Mayhem and more, Priscilla’s streaming has topped 250 million and rising. With Welcome to the Block Party, Priscilla rolls out the welcome mat even further, because she’s truly just getting started.

Rising artist Tiera Kennedy is emerging as one of the most exciting voices in the format – injecting Country music with a breath of vitality. Lighting a fire last year with her independently released self-titled EP, Nashville Scene cited the Alabama native as “the total package” and “a writer who has learned how to write for their own voice at a young age.” American Songwriter concurs, haling her as “one of Nashville’s most promising young singer/songwriters” while TEEN VOGUE raved about her “pure, catchy upbeat country story-telling.” The flagship artist to Nicolle Galyon’s groundbreaking Songs & Daughters Publishing, Tiera Kennedy finds herself as a voice for young women everywhere. Landing on several of 2022’s most impressive Artist to Watch Lists, including CMT’s Listen Up, MusicRow’s Next Big Thing and Pandora’s Country Artist to Watch, Tiera Kennedy is set to appear on some of the year’s biggest festivals, beginning in March at the Country Music Association-sponsored C2C Festival in Ireland and the United Kingdom followed by Tortuga Music Festival (April 9), Country Jam (June 23), Faster Horses Festival (July 22), Country Fan Fest (July 29) and Windy City Smokeout (August 5). As the host of Apple Music Country’s The Tiera Show, Tiera Kennedy puts her stamp on Country music daily. She is currently working on new music for her debut release via The Valory Music Co.
