ABOUT

For more than ten years, the annual luncheon has hosted a sold-out crowd to support HudsonAlpha's breast and ovarian cancer programs. Come hear about the work being done using genomics in breast and ovarian cancer research and hear stories of hope and strength.

This year's luncheon will feature special guest speaker, Mary-Claire King, PhD, world-renowned geneticist who discovered the BRCA1 gene. Dr. King is currently the American Cancer Society Professor of Genome Sciences and of Medical Genetics at the University of Washington in Seattle where she continues her life-long passion of doing research in breast and ovarian cancer genetics. During her visit in 2014, Dr. King challenged HudsonAlpha to offer community wide genetic cancer risk testing in North Alabama. As a result, HudsonAlpha's Information is Power initiative was born.

HudsonAlpha is committed to the goal of using genomic science and state-of-the-art technology to find new breakthroughs in breast and ovarian cancers. Through collaborations with scientists around the nation, this team is working to find biomarkers that lead to earlier, more accurate diagnoses and new pathways for more effective and targeted treatments. Breast and ovarian cancers are complicated diseases but through the power of genomic science and medicine, HudsonAlpha is working to find answers that makes a difference. Each day we strive to find new breakthroughs that will bring health, healing and hope to our mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters.
