Huntsville, Ala. – Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, on behalf of the City of Huntsville Beautification Board, presented the Von Braun Center (VBC) the 2022 Huntsville Beautification Award at the 47th annual awards ceremony held at Oakwood University on August 5. The VBC has received this award for over 25 years.

“Our in-house team works tirelessly throughout the year to maintain the VBC grounds,” commented VBC Executive Director Steve Maples. “It’s obvious to the thousands of guests who visit our facility throughout the year that we take extreme pride in our facility, not only through the beautiful landscaping, but through the ongoing upgrades and cleanliness within the building, as well. I’m proud of our hardworking team and honored that the VBC is recognized once again by the City of Huntsville Beautification Board.”

The Beautification Awards Program is a joint effort between the Huntsville Beautification Board and the City of Huntsville to recognize businesses that have shown significant initiative in beautifying their properties. The Beautification Board sponsors the Beautification Awards in partnership with the City of Huntsville’s Green Team.

The recognition is awarded annually following a rigorous judging of the landscaping of nominated properties. Judging includes: First impression, originality, distinction and design – among other categories.

In 2021, as pandemic restrictions were being lifted, the VBC held over 400 events and hosted over 400,000 people, including local and out-of-town guests who were all able to enjoy the beautiful landscaping at the Von Braun Center.
